What is on it

Marinas and harbours (blue): every marina, harbour, yacht haven and visitor mooring that OpenStreetMap knows about in the British Isles, from the Shetland marinas to the Shannon's harbours and the canal basins of the Midlands, plus two dozen Irish and English marinas added from other sources: 915 places, each with its name and, where known, a link to its website.

Sailing clubs (red): the 1,139 clubs affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association, from the RYA's own Where's my nearest? directory, with the club's address, activities (dinghy, yacht, windsurfing and so on), website and a link to its RYA listing.

Chandleries and boat shops (green): 124 chandlers and boat dealers from OpenStreetMap, with websites and addresses where it has them. OpenStreetMap's coverage of shops is patchier than its coverage of harbours, so this layer will grow.

How it was made

The points were loaded into Google My Maps in October 2026, so the map can be opened, saved and searched in the Google Maps app like any other. OpenStreetMap is maintained by volunteers, so a few entries are oddly named or out of date, and some small clubs and private moorings are missing. The club list is the RYA's, and a couple of its positions were plainly wrong (we have corrected the ones we spotted). If you know a berth, club or shop that is wrong or absent, tell the editor and we will fix it in the next edition.
